2008 Poster ArtistTony Sikorski (AFAS)
Tony Sikorski of Coraopolis, Pennsylvania has been selected to create the 2008 Glenmoor Gathering poster.
Trained as a graphic artist and working in that field for many years, he began creating one-of-a-kind sculptures in 1995, using corrugated cardboard as a medium. In 2006 he started using wood and stainless steel, as well.
In 2005 he was welcomed into an exclusive circle—the Automotive Fine Arts Society (AFAS).
Tony has had a long-time love affair with the automobile, with a special interest in vintage racing cars, automobiles of the 1930’s and Formula One racers. He received a scholarship to the Ivy Art Institute of Pittsburgh and by 1976 had started his own graphic arts business, created designs and illustrations for numerous clients throughout the U. S.
His award-winning, unique sculptures have been displayed at numerous invitational automobile exhibitions, including concours at Pebble Beach, Meadow Brook, Amelia Island, Cincinnati and Glenmoor, as well as motor sports events, where he has consistently been honored with awards ranging from best in show to a variety of special awards.
His ability to capture the automobile’s power, speed and motion has resulted in numerous commissions in both the private and corporate sectors. His work has been featured in Car Collector, Automobile, Auto Week, Robb Report and Classic and Sportscar, which named him one of the top 20 motoring artists of the past 20 years.
One of his awards he has received was the Meadow Brook “Spirit of the Automobilist,” which, he says, defines his artwork.
“I am continuing to work in the true ‘spirit of the automobilist’ while continuing to evolve as an artist. I enjoy creating new designs and developing new projects for 2008,” said Sikorski.
